May 2020 Industry Highlights

  • On February 17, 2020, Medtronic acquired Digital Surgery, a London-based provider of AI-driven surgical data and analytics, for an undisclosed sum. The acquisition will accelerate Medtronic’s strategy to provide AI and data within laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery.
  • On February 11, 2020, Intuitive Surgical announced that it completed the acquisition of privately held Orpheus Medical for an undisclosed amount
    to grow its integrated informatics platform. Orpheus Medical offers information technology connectivity and expertise in processing and
    archiving surgical video to hospitals.
  • On January 9, 2020, Medtronic acquired spinal cord stimulation company Stimgenics for an undisclosed amount. Stimgenics has developed a
    spinal cord stimulation waveform known as Differential Target Multiplexed Spinal Cord Stimulation. The therapy is delivered through Medtronic’s
    Intellis platform and is a chronic pain treatment option.
