Adam Smith, ASA, ABV Mr. Smith has over 25 years of experience in the valuation industry. He has conducted valuations of businesses, intangible assets, derivatives, and more, serving a wide array of purposes including financial reporting, litigation support, corporate planning, mergers and acquisitions, estate and gift tax reporting, and employee stock ownership plans. His extensive background also includes helping shape valuation standards and practices at the national and international levels, with contributions to organizations such as the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) .

Throughout his career, Adam has held several influential roles in valuation. Most recently, he was a managing director at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he had worked for over 20 years. He served as a practice fellow at the FASB, focusing on fair value issues and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders including regulators and standard-setting bodies. He also served as the Technical Director of Business Valuation Standards at the IVSC, where he played a key role in drafting and revising the International Valuation Standards. Additionally, Adam has made significant contributions to industry guidance, including helping develop the AICPA’s Valuation Guide on Business Combinations and participating in the update of the AICPA’s guidance on the valuation of privately held company equity securities issued as compensation.

Adam received his B.A. in business and economics with a minor in accounting from the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Smith holds the designations of accredited senior appraiser (ASA) by the American Society of Appraisers and accredited in business valuation (ABV) by the AICPA. He is a member of the Appraisal Foundation’s Appraisal Issues Task Force (AITF) and a contributing developer and instructor for the America Society of Appraisers.
