VRC Managing Directors Contribute to Latest Edition of Seminal Business Valuation Book

By: Anthony Pumphrey | Charles Sapnas

New York (March 1, 2022) – Valuation Research Corporation (VRC), a leading global provider of independent valuation support and advisory services, announced its contribution to the sixth edition of Valuing a Business. VRC managing directors Anthony Pumphrey and Charles Sapnas contributed to chapter 45, titled “Valuations for Financial Reporting.”

First published in 1981, Valuing a Business “is essential for anyone involved in business valuation—from CEOs, accountants, and lawyers to judges, financial planners, and small-business owners,” according to the publishers, McGraw-Hill Education. “Covering both the concepts of business valuation and practices for doing it right, this is by far the most comprehensive book on the subject.” The book will be released on March 22.

“It’s an honor to provide input on the latest edition of a book that has been an invaluable resource for students, beginning practitioners, and non-appraisers alike since it was first published four decades ago,” said Pumphrey.

Pumphrey and Sapnas, who both specialize in business enterprise valuations, purchase price allocations, and impairment analyses, shared their expertise for this edition of the business valuation classic.

“It’s especially gratifying to have worked on this project with the guidance of Shannon Pratt, who contributed so much to the valuation industry,” said Sapnas. Pratt, who created the first edition of Valuing a Business in 1981 and edited the subsequent edition, passed away in November.
