New York (March 9, 2021) Valuation Research Corporation (VRC), a leading global provider of independent valuation support and advisory services, announced that Steven Schuetz, senior managing director, has retired after nearly four decades in the valuation and banking industries.
“The consummate professional, who was never late for anything, VRC is grateful for Steve’s enormous contributions to the firm,” said PJ Patel, co-CEO. “Steve was instrumental in building our Tampa office and chairing our risk committee. He leaves both groups in better shape than when he joined.”
Schuetz, who served as head of the Tampa office and led VRC’s risk committee, will retire but remain with VRC as a Senior Advisor. Steve began his career as a consultant at VRC in 1983 before going on to hold various positions in the industry. Prior to rejoining VRC in 2005, he gained experience in valuations, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions, most notably at Arthur Andersen.
Specializing in the valuation of business entities and intellectual property, he served clients in most major industries, including food processing, retail, media, transportation, healthcare, computer software, and distribution throughout his career. In a 2019 interview with Bloomberg, he even presented two analytical frameworks for the valuation of dragons in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones.
“What began as a relationship as former Arthur Andersen colleagues migrated into one of mentor/mentee and valued, trusted partner and friend,” said Larry Van Kirk, Senior Managing Director of VRC. “Steve built the Tampa office from scratch with an unmatched responsiveness and client-centric focus. I wish him the best of luck.”
Schuetz earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He holds the designation of chartered financial analyst (CFA) and is an accredited senior appraiser (ASA).
