VRC Taps Industry Expert for Cross-border Tax and Valuation Efforts Amid Hot Deal Environment

Big Four veteran Tom Gottfried will consult with clients worldwide

New York (September 8, 2021) – Valuation Research Corporation (VRC), a leading global provider of independent valuation support and advisory services, announced the appointment of cross-border tax valuation expert Tom Gottfried as Managing Director. Gottfried will provide senior-level support on complex tax valuation issues raised by mergers & acquisitions and multinational corporate restructurings to teammates across the country and to valuation professionals outside the U.S. through Valuation Research Group, VRC’s global member network. He joins from Ernst & Young.

“I’ve personally rolled up my sleeves and worked through some fairly thorny international tax-related engagements, but Tom’s expertise is really next level,” said VRC Co-CEO PJ Patel. “I can’t wait to introduce him and his thoughtful, expert solutions to our clients.”

Prior to joining VRC, Gottfried worked at Ernst & Young’s Strategy & Transactions team. He began his career in debt capital markets at BNP Paribas and worked at Baker & McKenzie, Dentons (Salans), and KPMG’s Economic and Valuation Services team. His specialties include business enterprise, credit/debt instruments, equity, intangible assets and portfolio valuations. Gottfried also brings international experience, with a background in valuation analyses for companies across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

“With a high volume of deal activity and global tax authorities actively considering significant changes to international tax regimes, it’s an exciting time to be working in this field,” said Gottfried. “I’m thrilled to take this next step in my career as part of the VRC team.”

Gottfried holds a Master of Business Administration degree in accounting, analytic finance, economics, entrepreneurship and strategy from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Master of Laws degree in taxation from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. He is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
