Chad Rucker, Managing Director of Valuation Research Corporation (VRC), a leading provider of independent valuation support, will present at Practising Law Institute’s (PLI) upcoming seminar, Pocket MBA 2022: Finance for Lawyers and Other Professionals. The two-day program will take place from October 13-14, and Rucker is scheduled to speak on the first day. Attendees can choose to attend in person in Chicago or view the event online.
Pocket MBA is a hallmark program for attorneys whose careers have brought them into representing clients in the financial industry, but their background training lacked accounting principles and financial concepts. This program is designed to improve understanding of business strategies, accounting fundamentals and vocabulary used by management, investors, auditors and bankers.
Rucker will present a session on Thursday, October 13 at 2:15 p.m. CDT titled “What is it worth? Valuations.” He will cover the following topics:
- Examine the concept of “value”
- Understand historical financial analysis
- Explore valuation approaches
- Learn what to look for in a valuation
- Apply valuation methodologies in the context of M&A, fairness opinions, disputes, commercial damages, dept capacity, etc.
- Case Study: Walk through a valuation report
Rucker specializes in fairness and solvency opinions. A holder of a master’s degree in finance from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Augusta State University, Rucker also earned his juris doctor from New York University School of Law. Rucker has been presenting as part of the Pocket MBA Seminar faculty since 2017.
